About

Robert Boschmann is a multidisciplinary designer and art director based in Cologne, Germany, working locally as well as internationally. Services are but are not limited to design for music, visual identities and concepts, branding and merchandise. Above all, he values the creation of long-standing relationships — collaborative partnerships built on honesty and purpose within the fields of art, culture, and commerce. Over the course of 7 years Robert has worked for clients directly or through agencies from startups to enterprises across industries. His work is characterised by clarity and simplicity, his philosophy being that design should not overpower its message but rather empower it. At the end of the day, he wants to have fun and make great things with great people. Off-screen, Robert enjoys spending a fair share of his time in the kitchen. Yes chef!

Process

There is no "one-size-fits-all" solution when it comes to design, and each project often requires a slightly different approach. However, the essence of the design process stays the same. It provides a structure for everyone to follow, secures understanding and maintains focus. The fundamental method comprises the five stages listed below, which are flexible and adapt to the specifics of each project. Expand each one to learn more.

1. Discover
This is the most important stage as it lays the foundations for a project. Bureau Boschmann works closely with its clients to dig into the specifics of what is need, the problem being faced and the outcome a client wishes to achieve. From there, both parties work together to determine the best route forward and move into the design phase fully informed and on the same page.
2. Develop
Taking everything one has learned from the first stage, this is where the plan is being put into action. Whatever the design outcome, it is ensured that the agreed brief and strategy is adhered to at all times, never losing site of the end goal. At the end of this stage, the design concept(s) will be presented for the client to provide feedback.
3. Refine
Following receipt of the design(s), this is the client's opportunity to provide feedback. Here can be discussed if anything needs to be altered, ensured everything is fit for purpose and answers the brief. The final design will then be refined and prepared for handing over.
4. Handover
Once a client is happy with the design and final sign-off has been given, the project will be finalised. This involves preparing and supplying all final files, this is usually in the form of a digital download link. Depending on the project, deliverables will differ, but all appropriate file formats will be provided and any specific requirements will have been discussed.
5. Aftercare
Bureau Boschmann is always offering support to its clients, even though a project may have officially come to an end. In addition, certain projects such as logo design come with tangible support in the form of digital guidelines on how to implement your logo and achieve maximum impact.
